Long distance skating, speed skating, endurance skating – all these are the names of our favorite style of inline skating. Are you already good enough at inline skating and would like to hit the path from Palanga to Šventoji easily? Then this message is just for you.

Why do we do that?

Last April we held 8 introductory long distance skating practices. We were impressed how many skaters came and how cool we were working all together. Good feedback inspires to continue in the same way also. So this year in April we going to arrange 8 introductory practices again.

What Are We Going To Do?

We will learn the basics of long distance skating during the practices, upgrade the technique skills, employ special exercises, improve endurance and fitness. Sure we will play those games that we liked so much last year: skating in pack, variable pace, sprints at random moments etc.

Where and when?

Practices will take place every Tuesday and Thursday during April, regardless of weather conditions. We are waiting that the round of St. Christopher Gymnasium (Kazliškių str. 4, Žirmūnai) will host the practices, but if the weather conditions make the skating unavailable, we will move under the roof in Vingis Park. Practices start at 18:55, duration approx. 1.5 hours.

Who can attend the practices?

Everyone is welcome to join, but, sorry, we will not teach to skate from zero. There are other great options for that in Vilnius. Therefore, our practices will be more interesting and useful for those who are already skating at least a little. But don’t underestimate your own skills, probably you are skating better than you think.

What equipment is required?
Mandatory: a) inline skates – any inline skates fit well, no matter what style and how old they are. Number and size of wheels are not important also. b) helmet is necessary, you can use cyclist helmet, by the way, c) sports shoes for warming up and exercises without skates.

Recommendation (but not requirement): a) protectors – you will feel better with them, b) water to drink during the session (even if the weather is cold), c) phone with Strava or another sports app.

Who will guide the practices?
The practices will be guided by experienced coaches, international champions and national record holders… Just kidding you 🙂 The sessions will be led by us, the skaters like you, just a bit more experienced at races and having covered more miles. Therefore, training will be very informal and friendly.

How much will it cost?

All 8 sessions will be completely free. Period.

How to get to the practices?

Registration is not required, the number of participants is not limited, so just come and enjoy the skating. Notifications about each session will be published in the riedėk.lt Facebook group >>

Languages?

We are good enough in English and Russian. We are pretty sure you will face any issues if you are not fluent in Lithuanian.
